Easter Activities in Georgia

Easter's origin is mysterious and exciting; millions of people around the world can't wait to celebrate Easter, meet up with their family and friends, enjoy delicious meals, and indulge in chocolate bunnies and eggs; but why is it celebrated?

Easter is associated with many faiths and practices. In some beliefs, it is said to be a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Yet, many believe that it plays a significant role in Teutonic mythology (German paganism). People also believe that the day celebrates Eostre, the goddess of fertility and spring, and thus developed the symbolism of eggs and rabbits awaiting the spring.

Regardless of the reason, it brings people together worldwide, and if you're in Georgia, there are an abundance of treats in store for you, including Easter egg hunts, Easter goodies, and much more.

Here are some of the many activities that occur in a few of the different cities in Georgia:

Jefferson

Located in beautiful Jackson County, Jefferson is more than 200 years old with a rich history, friendly communities, and a variety of amenities. Fun events and festivals occur throughout the year, including Easter activities. Spend the day out, enjoy an Easter brunch, or indulge in fun DIY activities and games. Here are some of your options:

Join the Easter Sunday Mass at Hope Crossing Church

For many people, there's no better way to start Easter morning than with a morning vigil service at the quaint Hope Crossing Church. Celebrate, pray, and sing. Located on Old Pendergrass road, this church is a bit on the larger side and is surrounded by green meadows on all sides.

They hold Mass in the mornings and evenings, and you can stop by for Easter vigil, and you can stay for their plays reenacting the resurrection of the Lord.

Partake in the Easter Egg Drop

Located on Galilee Church Road, the Galilee Church doesn't just hold Easter Mass every year; it also hosts fun events for participation. The church usually hosts egg dyeing competitions and baking competitions.

However, in the spirit of Easter, their new addition includes an egg drop, where they drop more than 10,000 chocolate eggs for you to catch. Come along with your family, get your easter goodies, and indulge in the delicious food from the nearby food trucks lining the street.

Get Ready to Hunt & Munch at an Egg Hunt & Cookout

The Ebenezer Church on Ebenezer Church Road hosts this fun day out, so make sure to stop by! Be there at about 10:30 to participate in the 11:00 am traditional Easter egg hunt, where colorful eggs are hidden outside the church and in spots, you'd never expect.

After a tiring hunt, relax with some refreshments, and enjoy hot dogs and chips for lunch, sitting amidst the dewy green grass behind the church before you head home for the day.

Gorge on the Easter Buffet Offered by the Carriage House

Located on Athens Street, the Carriage House is a popular spot in Jefferson, offering special easter buffets for lunch and dinner. The exterior looks exactly like a large house, but you will come across elegant decorations and wooden interiors where self-service is encouraged when you walk in.

There aren't restaurant-like items on the menus, and it is ideal for people that want to indulge in home-cooking on Easter. They have a delicious American buffet and desserts with chocolate bunnies and eggs.
